Company History

Dental Symphony grew out of the vision of Tom F. Cockerell, Jr., D.D.S. that a software application could actively assist dentists in essential clinical processes at the chairside. Tom sensed the potential of digital technology to create a “virtual assistant,” one that could summon critical medical knowledge at the point of care, one that could check for errors and catch them, one that could keep critical chart notes and information on every patient in order and available without losing or misfiling them. And provide emergency assistance. And write referral letters. And generate patient educational materials. And more.

But he knew that such potential was yet to be realized in dentistry. So he first created elementary processes and later more complex processes for his own office to “virtually assist” him in his practice. Soon Tom realized that what he had created to improve the delivery of clinical care in his own office could be applied for the benefit of dental offices anywhere.

His initial insights were confirmed by academic and practicing dentists with whom he shared his vision. The concept that started in his office was augmented by the contributions of those academic and practicing dentists (and a physician) and now has become “Dental Symphony.” Those same professionals are now the Dental Symphony Clinical Team.

Dental Symphony by WorthWhile, Inc. is the second-generation of Tom’s clinical-care system–his “virtual assistant"-- augmented and expanded by the Clinical Team and transformed by web-based technology into a powerful, unique, essential, and new roadmap to better dentistry.
