speed charting

Guided. Systematic. Thorough.

Clinical charting is ponderous.

But it doesn’t have to be.

Dental Symphony’s SpeedCharting™  is fun, easy, and fast - stunningly fast! Other charting applications are “paint-by-number” plain. And slow. And tedious. Not SpeedCharting!™

SpeedCharting™   is smart and well-designed. Structured logically to guide you, but flexible to allow you full control.

SpeedCharting™   is dynamic and interactive. Not just fast and easy to use, but elegant and powerful. Merely noting pathology and pre-existing restorations (a simple process in SpeedCharting™)  generates treatment-planning elements.

SpeedCharting™   comes in two modes:

  1. Teeth
  2. Periodontal Tissue

Both are powerful, complete, thorough.

SpeedCharting™   will change your entire approach to recording your clinical findings.

SpeedCharting™ will

  1. guide doctor and staff to chart pre-existing conditions consistently, thoroughly – ensures a systematic approach.
  2. visually record all pathologies, including ability to chart three levels of pain (mild, moderate, severe). . . non-carious cervical lesions. . . abscesses. . . and much more.
  3. chart every periodontal pathology previously required by the American Board of Periodontology.
  4. automatically generate treatment plans keyed to a doctor’s preferences.

Dental Symphony’s breakthrough in SpeedCharting™   functionality is ground-breaking.

You will soon find it indispensable.

Clinical Library: Drugs

When you need to stop and review

Can you name the 200 most frequently prescribed drugs used in the past year?

Do you know how each drug can impact your patient care?

No? Then, welcome to Dental Symphony.

In the Clinical Library, each drug is briefly and succinctly described and analyzed for its potential impact on patient care.

The list of drugs

  1. Selected and summarized by one of the world’s leading dental pharmacologists, a member of your Clinical Team
  2. Reviewed and critiqued by the Clinical Team
  3. Expanded regularly and kept current
  4. Includes prescription drugs, commonly-used OTC drugs, and herbs

Thanks to Dental Symphony’s DDTP engine, drug information from the Clinical Library is posted to the patient record automatically when the drug history is recorded—and instantly available to you at the chair.

Other key features:

  1. Dental Symphony’s built-in prescription writer automates accurate prescription-writing, drawing on the Clinical Library’s growing list of prescription drugs. Each time a prescription is written, a copy is added to the patient record.
  2. Protective warnings alert you if you attempt to prescribe a drug for which the patient has indicated an allergy.
  3. The DDTP engine will alert you if a patient lists a medication that may not correspond to the medical history. For example, if your patient takes medication for diabetes but does not list diabetes in his or her medical history, Dental Symphony will alert you.
Emergency Button

Active guidance for clinical crises

Two important questions:

When did your office last conduct a medical “fire drill”?

How well will your staff react to a medical emergency?

If you don’t feel entirely comfortable with your answers, you’ll love this feature of Dental Symphony.

The Emergency Button

Dental Symphony’s Emergency Response System

Office clinical emergencies may not happen often. But when they do, immediate and effective response is required.

In an office emergency, here’s how Dental Symphony helps ensure an effective response.

  1. From any computer running Dental Symphony, a staff member clicks the red “Emergency” button (found in the upper right corner on every page of Dental Symphony) to notify the entire office of an emergency.
  2. A short list of medical emergencies common to dental practice will appear. The staff member clicks on a choice.
  3. Task assignments and other information will appear immediately on each monitor throughout the office to guide staff.

Special note: task assignments are based on your configuration of staff responsibilities ahead of time.

Essential features of the Emergency Response Messaging System include:

  1. Notifies the entire office of emergencies without alarming patients
  2. Provides a “checklist” of tasks to remind staff of what needs to be done
  3. Provides specific guidance in the following emergencies
    1. syncope
    2. chest pain
    3. airway obstruction
    4. seizure
    5. non-responsive patient
    6. hypoglycemia
    7. allergic reaction
  4. Easily modified to include new staff and to reassign tasks
  5. Easy to use as a practice drill

For peace of mind and a sure response in an emergency, the Emergency Response Messaging System may be your best friend.

My Preferences

When you need to stop and review

Sure, you can look it up. You can check out Medline. . .or WebMD . . . or the sources sitting on your bookshelf.

But wouldn’t you like to have really reliable information about your patient’s medical condition right at hand?

  1. Information that is automatically posted to your patient record–simply by noting findings and medications?
  2. Information specially prepared with you in mind?
  3. Information you need at the chair?
  4. And, of course, information you can trust because you trust the source?

Of course you would.

Then you’re going to love the Clinical Library.

Created exclusively by Dental Symphony’s Clinical Team, the Clinical Library has two components, Disease Groupings and Drugs. (See the separate discussion of Drugs.)

Straight from the Clinical Library to your patient record

Materials from the Clinical Library are automatically added to your patient record when a finding is made, a medication noted.

But the Clinical Library is also word-searchable. Curious about a drug? Check it out. Want to know more about a given disease? Look it up.

The Clinical Library (Disease Groupings) contains descriptions of 25 major disease groupings that follow this outline, designed to provide you specific information at the point of care (with more to come soon):

  1. Disease summary, treatment, prognosis and incidence
  2. How does the disease affect dental treatment?
    1. Is antibiotic prophylaxis recommended?
    2. Are there local anesthetic concerns?
  3. Potential problems with dental care
    1. Prevention of potential problems
    2. Managing problems
    3. Is there an increased caries or periodontal risk with the disease?
  4. Real world cues for seeking a medical consultation – reminders about laboratory values, nomenclature and clinical treatment.

And this is just the beginning. The Clinical Team will continue to add new groupings, making the Clinical Library a resource that only gets better with time.

Patient Education Library

Covering over 100 and growing to more than 230

Patients like paper.

So...give them something to read as they leave your office.

If educational materials are tailored to them, well-written, colorful and interesting, they’ll read them, think about them, keep them, and marvel at how smart they were to choose you as their dentist.

Dental Symphony’s Patient Education Library is copyrighted original current material written plainly and precisely by dental-school faculty and private practice dentists.

  1. Accompanied by colorful illustrations and photos.
  2. Designed to inform, educate, reassure.
  3. Licensed to you as an active subscriber to print for your patients.

And personalized to your practice. Coming from your office. Addressed to your patient.

Each topic has its own page. Virtually every dental condition, every dental treatment, and every patient question is addressed in the Patient Education Library.

It is a complete source for patient education.

And the best part. . . . you don’t have to go looking for it.

When you use Dental Symphony’s Diagnosis Driven Treatment Planning™, your patient findings will automatically generate a specialized, tailored packet of Patient Education materials ready to be printed, complete with your office information. (And a copy of it will be added to the electronic patient record so you’ll know exactly what’s been given the patient.)

And it’s fast. Your staff can have personalized education packets ready to hand patients as they leave.

They’ll think you’re brilliant. And they should.

For your front office

Dental Symphony ePatient – Internet patient registration.

Internet registration

You know it can take half an hour for a new patient to complete your paperwork before he or she is seated.

Dental Symphony can cut that time dramatically.

Patients–both new and existing–can complete their medical and dental history questionnaires online via the Internet--without stepping foot in your office.

And because submitted questionnaires integrate fully with the Dental Symphony system, data re-entry by your staff is unnecessary.

Staff can simply review responses, and supplement or expand as necessary with the patient during the office visit.

Dental Symphony’s secure, HIPAA-compliant Internet portal saves you and your patient time. Each patient is given a unique access code. And only you and your patient can access his or her questionnaire.

Front desk services

Dental Symphony provides your front desk operation well-designed tools to support your practice. Such as:

  1. A user-friendly system for e-mailing/printing patient documents
  2. Automatic creation of “welcome” letters to new patients, “thank you” letters for referrals, and collection letters ready for printing
